Amy a hot young Miss

23 July, 2009.
DES Pollock can be a persistent young man for a 21-year-old.
Just ask his dad John.
Two years ago Des “pestered” his father to get back into greyhound racing.
John had been in the industry for years but decided to have a break … five years in fact.
That was until Des and his brother Robert started to hound John.
“We bought seven pups and now have two of them racing,” said Des.
One of those is Miss Amy Jade (Bombastic Shiraz-Chilling Subject) who flashed up late, to the cheers of the Pollocks, to win at her 710m debut at Albion Park on Thursday night.
She scored by a neck in 42.31 beating equal favourite Dshing Top Hat with a length to Count The Dough in third.
It was Miss Amy Jade’s fourth win in 11 starts.
Des, Robert, their niece Lisa Hamlyn and Des’ girlfriend Anne-Marie Webster, cheered that loud patrons could have thought it was the finish of the Group 1 race.
The Pollocks paid $2500 for Miss Amy Jade.
“We bought her over the phone, sight unseen, when she was a pup and she was the last one of the litter left,” said Des.
“She has always shown she would be a stayer and dad was never worried about stepping her straight up to 710m.”
Miss Amy Jade had won brilliantly over 630m at her debut over that distance at Ipswich on July 8 without the benefit of a trial.
No immediate plans have been made for Miss Amy Jade.
The Pollocks will need to get over the victory, and their hoarse throats first.
