More Burman Magic

4 Feb, 2010.
MARY Burman reckons there is so much about Fawn Magic that reminds her of Sonic Surf.
That can be a good, and bad, thing.
Fawn Magic is a daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and former top grade staying bitch Sonic Surf, a litter sister to Mary and husband Ray's multiple Group winning Technoman.
Sonic Surf won over three distances at Albion Park.
When she retired to stud, Mary and Ray were looking forward to her litters. They waited 18 months before she came on season.
"We tried everything with her, but had to wait for her to come on when she was ready," said Mary.
"In fact, we sent her all over the country trying to get her to come on."
Fawn Magic showed she has inherited some of mum's ability when she led throughout to win a 520m Young Guns heat at Albion Park on Thursday night.
She ran 30.38 to win by three and a quarter lengths over Cachi with a half length to Chasin' Chloe in third.
Fawn Magic was aided by her inside box draw and the fact there was not a lot of early pace against her.
"She has to have the inside," said Mary. "Once she got to the front around the first turn, I knew they wouldn't beat her."
Mary knows only too well Fawn Magic is just like her mum and will be much better suited when she steps up to more distance.
"She's a lot like her mother in fact ... she's a bit stupid just like her," she joked.
Fawn Magic is just 21 months old and has a bright future according to Mary.
