Lee upsets the stars

4 Feb, 2010.
UNDERRATED Late Show Lee rattled home to land a 520m Best 8 at Albion Park on Thursday night upsetting a field of hotpots.
Late Show Lee (Late Late Show-Mysterious Lee) ran down early leader Mr Metz to win by half a length in 30.27.
Premier Chief ran on well for third three-quarters of a length away with the luckless High Earner in fourth.
Both Mr Metz and High Earner will go to Melbourne on Saturday week for the Group 1 The Temlee against Australia's top sprinters.
Part-owner Barry Hanley was pleasantly surprised his dog had won.
"He was up against those Group winners and while we were hoping, we couldn't be confident," he said.
Late Show Lee started racing on February 7 last year and Thursday night's victory was at his 53rd start for 10th win.
"He has only missed racing two weeks of that year," said Barry.
The victory was a "get well" for Barry who is sporting three broken ribs after an accident at his home during the week.
"That Neil Thompson (the dog's trainer) still made me catch him tonight," said Barry.
Mr Metz began brilliantly, but so did High Earner and the pair matched strides to the first turn.
Mr Metz came across High Earner and that dog was checked and forced off the track. He tried hard to get back to make a challenge, but the interference had done the damage.
Late Show Lee, perfectly suited off an inside draw, railed up in the home straight and proved too good on the line.
Late Show Lee's regular handler Darren Titmarsh reports his position at the Thompson kennel at Bracken Ridge has been up-graded to "kennel foreman".
