Dave happy to keep his Star

9 Feb, 2010.
OWNER Dave Stewart is happy he knocked back a five-figure offer last week to buy God Star.
The offer came from clients of a top local trainer.
God Star (Collision-Toe Line) led virtually throughout to win at Albion Park on Monday night in 30.56 and he backs up on Thursday night.
He was the second of a winning double for Toowoomba trainer Mark Saal. The other was God Star's littermate Unchain My Heart who ran 30.43 when winning.
"That was God Star's first 520m in about two months and there is a heap of improvement in him yet," said Saal today.
"I reckon he can get down to around 30.20."
Unchain My Heart broke in the best of the Collision-Toe Line litter but it has taken some time for the dog to be able to cope with 520m racing.
The winning double was the first for Saal for some time at Albion Park. "I've had plenty of winning trebles at Ipswich lately, but that's my first double at Albion for some time."
Saal is giving full time greyhound racing a try for the next couple of years.
"I have only ever had a couple of dogs in work until now," he said. "I've now got nine in training and a heap of pups coming through."
He recently whelped a litter of seven by Surf Lorian out of his Ipswich Futurity winner and top grade Albion park sprinter Bundy Babe.
"She had a one pup litter to Bombastic Shiraz and that dog is now eight months old and is an outstanding type," said Saal.
Plans for Bundy Babe are to go to Collision for her next mating.
Toe Line, dam of God Star and Unchain My Heart, is a sister to champion Bogie Leigh.
She has finished her breeding career but has a one pup litter to Bombastic Shiraz and two pups to Pure Octane being reared.
Saal expects God Star to be very hard to beat at Albion Park on Thursday night.
"I've also got a dog from the same litter, called Broken Piston, who is through to the next round of the Vince Curry series," said Saal.
"He's had problems, but he is very good."
