As from the 1st of October 2005, all DNA
application and registration will occur through the office
of Greyhounds Australasia. By centralising the DNA registration
process to a national office it will streamline processing
and ensure results are delivered promptly. The National
fee for the DNA program is $110.00.
The steps to get your greyhound DNA
registered:
1. The applicant applies to Greyhounds
Australasia with the National fee of $110.
2. Greyhounds Australasia sends out a DNA kit and Application
Form.
3. The applicant takes the greyhound to their vet along
with the DNA kit, application form and the greyhounds’
registration papers.
4. The vet collects the sample and verifies the greyhound,
then sends the sample to Genetic Technologies for testing.
5. Genetic Technologies runs the DNA profile and confirms
parentage.
6. Greyhounds Australasia receives the results from Genetic
Technologies and notifies the applicant by mail. Included
for the applicant is a formally printed DNA certificate
and a DNA certified label for their greyhounds registration
papers.
Generally an applicant should allow 6
weeks for their results to be returned after the vet has
forwarded the sample to Genetic Technologies.
PLEASE NOTE: When testing your
greyhound the Registration Papers must be presented to
the vet who will then sign the declaration, to verify
the authenticity of the sample and ensure the integrity
of the program.
