VACCINATION/BOOSTER NOTIFICATION
COMPULSORY FOR GREYHOUNDS RACING IN QUEENSLAND
FROM 1 JULY 2003.

Compulsory vaccination has been introduced to protect the Greyhound racing industry in Queensland. Greyhound Racing Victoria and Racing Services Tasmania have compulsory vaccination to C3 level. WA Greyhound Racing Association has approval in principal for compulsory vaccination to C4 level and Greyhound Racing SA Limited requires proof of vaccination before litter registration.

 

Greyhounds already racing and whelped before 1 April 2001 do not require proof of vaccination.

 

Vaccination/Booster notification – refer Greyhound Racing Authority (Queensland) General Rule 88 (a)(i)(ii). As from 1 July 2003 for greyhounds to be eligible to nominate to race in Queensland the following requirement applies:

 

Greyhounds whelped on or after 1 April 2001.

Greyhounds over the age of 12 months require proof of vaccination with at least a C3 vaccination being administered over the age of 12 months.

And/or

Greyhounds having first Queensland start require proof of vaccination with at least a C3 vaccination being administered over the age of 12 months.

 

Proof of vaccination to be provided prior to nomination: Proof may be in the form of the greyhound’s vaccination record book or a certificate of vaccination signed by a registered Veterinarian. Record book and/or certificate must show greyhound’s ear brand, colour, sex, whelping date and vaccine sticker or type of vaccine and vaccination date.

 

Trainer/owner kennelling details must be lodged with the Greyhound Racing Authority prior to nomination.
