BETA-K TABLETS FOR GREYHOUNDS

The Authority wish to advise trainers of a press release issued by Vetsearch International Pty Ltd concerning Beta-K tablets.

Manufacturers Press Release

Vetsearch recently became aware that Beta-K slow release potassium chloride tablets for greyhounds contained trace amounts of cocoa powder. Coca powder contains small quantities of caffeine and theobromine, which are prohibited substances under the greyhound rules of racing. Because of this, Vetsearch has taken immediate action to remove Beta-k from retail outlets and is advising users, for the time being that this product will no longer be available.

Vetsearch is taking appropriate steps to change the manufacturing process of Beta-k to ensure future batches do not contain coca powder, caffeine or theobromine. Once the manufacturing procedures meeting with Vetsearch approval, Beta-K will again be available to greyhound trainers.
