Garrards Horse and Hound Winter Carnival Cup

The Club was delighted with the response to our VIP Petfoods Gold Cup “Magic Night”. We had approximately 250 patrons at SILKS, and many more downstairs, which was tremendous and the off-track entertainment was non-stop. We appreciate the positive feedback we have received on the night and look forward to having another successful Group 1 Final night on July 20 for the Final of the Garrards Horse and Hound Winter Carnival Cup – “The Carnivale”.

Please show your support for our premier nights by bringing family and friends to SILKS on Thursday 20 July.  At $32.50, with FREE ADMISSION it is a very affordable night out. Ph 3262 2044 for bookings.

BGRC Web Site

The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club’s new website is up and running.  It has taken a great deal of effort to bring the new site into operation.  The Club would like to extend their thanks to Club Sponsor Dinky Di Web Designs for the creation of our new web presence.  The new site address is:

http://www.brisgreys.com

One of the great features of the site is the ever changing features on the home page.  So far we have featured images and slide shows of the VIP Petfoods Gold Cup, the Brandons QLD Derby, the Queensland Cup and the Dave Brett Memorial Maiden.

It is worth the visit just to see these features alone and is possible through the contribution of Corey Pearce Photography in supplying a vast array of excellent photographs to our highly creative webmaster.

Interestingly, the data reports that we are now able to receive on the website have shown that it has been viewed by not only Australian users but also users from The USA, China, India, Hong Kong, New Zealand, France, Switzerland and Great Britain.

National Sprint and Distance Championships

The Club is pleased to announce a further strengthening of the sponsorship agreement with Dinky Di Web Designs, through the incorporation of the naming rights to the 2006 National Sprint and Distance Championships (QLD Division).

Nominations for the Dinky Di Web Designs National Sprint (QLD) and Dinky Di Web Designs National Distance (QLD) close on 31 July 2006. Please note that Nationals written nomination forms will only be accepted.  These forms are available from the Club Office.

Heats for both events will be held on 10 August

and the Finals on 17 August.

Grading Policy Amendments

Please note that the definitions of Sprint events and Distance events will change from 1 July.

Distance Event means an event raced over a distance of more than 590m.

Sprint Event means an event race over a distance of not more than 590m.

If you are unsure as to what grade your greyhound will be over the two distances we would encourage you to contact the GRAQ Grading Department to clarify the grade.

The first Albion Park meeting to be graded under the new policy was Monday 3 July.

July Programming

Trainers please note that the previously advised programming changes come into effect from 1 July.

Mondays:

Week 1 & 2 each Month – Class 1 with existing Monday prizemoney.

The remaining weeks will be Class 2 meetings.

Thursday:       No Change

Friday:            Class 3 non-penalty

Class 3 Non-Penalty

From Friday 7 July, the Class 3 meetings at Albion Park will be non-penalty meetings. Below is a quick reference guide on how the grading will work for these events:

·        Greyhounds will be graded in the Non-Penalty meetings based on their Class 3 grading as at 1 July 2006.

·        Greyhounds will not be penalised for a win at a non-penalty meeting.

·        Greyhounds will NOT be able to use unplaced runs on a non-penalty meeting towards the three consecutive unplaced runs required to drop a grade.

·        They will be penalised for wins on other Class 3 tracks.

·        Any elevation or decrease (from wins or dropping a grade from other Class 3 tracks) in a greyhound’s grade will affect its grade on the Friday non-penalty meetings.

Level 3 Water Restrictions

Due to Level 3 water restrictions hoses around the track have been removed. Hoses are still available in the greyhound wash bays for washing down your dogs after trialling.

Friday Evening Trials

The Club requests that all litter be taken with you after you trial and either taken home or placed in a rubbish bin on course.

Trials

Wednesday  8.45am to 11am. Please book with the club on Tuesdays between 9am and 12pm.

Friday from 7.10pm. Please book with the club Wednesdays between 11am and 2pm or Thursday between 1pm and 3pm.

Please note that all field trials on a Friday night are into the catching pen.
