Leukaemia Foundation – World’s Greatest Shave
Tonight’s the night! The Leukaemia Foundation’s –
World’s Greatest Shave to Care and Cure will be held from 4-6 May. The Club is
hosting its own shave event on Thursday 4 May. Commonwealth Games stars Robert
and Chantelle Newbury will be the guest haircutters for the night. Thanks to
Marie Heck for all her work in getting the ball rolling for this great cause.
Paul Dolan has offered his hair and beard!! So far Paul has received pledges
around $1500 for his beard. What a
fantastic effort that has been from our racecaller and the industry.
The haircutting starts after Race 5.
From the Committee
The Brisbane Club Committee met on Tuesday 2

meeting were:
·

-

·
Support for the redevelopment of the BGRC web
site. The Club is aiming to go live
with the new site on 8 June 2006 – the final of the VIP Pet Foods Gold Cup.
AGRA Rankings
Attached to today’s newsletter are the AGRA
Greyhound Racing Rankings for April.
These rankings are compiled from the Group Races held nationally each
year. We will aim to include these each month as they make interesting reading.
Winter Carnival – Group 1 Nights
The VIP Petfoods Gold Cup Final will be held on 8 June
and the Garrards Horse and Hound Winter Carnival Cup Final on 20 July. We are planning two spectacular nights both
on and off the track.
Silks will be open on both nights providing an excellent smorgasbord
dinner and a great view of the nights’ racing. We need the support of the
greyhound industry to ensure that we can maintain the viability of opening
Silks on these occasions. The cost will be $32.50 per person. Bookings are
essential – please phone 3262 2044 ASAP to reserve your table. The menu for the night is attached to
today’s Albion Angle.
There will be plenty of entertainment on both nights, with the Gold Cup
being themed around “A Magic Night“.
While we’re certain of seeing plenty of magic on the track, the off
track entertainment will include roving magicians, The Phoenix Fire Tribe, kids
entertainers, a jumping castle, the Afghan Hounds racing, raffles and more.
The Winter Carnival Cup night will have a “Carnivale” atmosphere with
circus performers, jumping castle, music from the Caribbean Kings and more to be announced.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU BOOK WELL IN ADVANCE
The Club has commenced the incentive programs from Monday 1 May 2006.

This is a racebook competition where patrons will be able to nominate
the winners of races 3 to 8. Anyone successfully picking all 6 winners will

Children At Trials
We have had instances in
recent weeks where children have been playing unsupervised near the track on
trial nights. This is a very dangerous practice and has the potential to
distract staff and greyhounds during the conduct of trials. It is the
responsibility of parents/guardians to supervise children while at the trials.
Please ensure that they do not play or run near the track.

These initiatives were put
in place in February this year for a three month trial. The Club would
appreciate feedback from licencees and patrons of Albion Park on these changes,

at the bottom of the next page. If you need more room please feel free to use a
