GQL POLICIES

Under section 81 of the racing Act 2002, Greyhounds Queensland must make policies for 23 separate areas and under section 84, these policies must be publicly available. GQL also makes policies in other areas for the good management of the industry.

Consultation drafts of policies allow the racing industry and general public to have its say on policies that affect it. Draft policies are publicised for a minimum of 28 days in seeking comments.

Anyone with an interest in racing can make a submission on a draft policy. Submissions should be in writing and reach GQL before the end of the consultation period for the particular policy.

In exceptional circumstances GQL may make a policy urgently without formal consultation from industry. If this occurs, the interim policy will be reviewed within three months and will not continue after six months unless the normal formal consultation process is undertaken.
