Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 7th of January 2010 in relation to the urine sample numbered 284460 taken from the greyhound “BRANDON RIVER” which competed on the 21st of November 2009 at the Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club in Race 6 (placed 3rd) and subsequently returned positive to the prohibited substance ketoprofen.

Stewards directed Trainer Mr. Barry Russell of Apple Tree Creek to appear.
Evidence was taken from Mr. Russell.

Stewards charged the Trainer under R 83 (2) (a) (d) which states;
(2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound
(a) nominated to compete in an Event
(d) shall present the greyhound free of any prohibited substance  
 
Mr. Russell pleaded guilty as charged.
Mr. Russell was suspended for a period of 3 months and fined $250.

Stewards disqualified the greyhound “BRANDON RIVER” under R 83 (4) from Race 6 (placed 3rd) at the Bundaberg Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 21st of November 2009.

Prizemoney must be returned to Greyhounds Queensland.

Mr. Russell was read his rights of Appeal at the conclusion of the Inquiry.
