Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 17th January 2009 in relation to the urine sample numbered 266577 taken from the greyhound “MADONNA PORTRAIT” which competed on the 27th November 2008 at the Mackay Greyhound Racing Club in Race 2 (placed 1st) and subsequently returned positive to the drug Clenbuterol.
Stewards directed Trainer Mrs. Christine Pollard of Emerald to appear.
Evidence was taken from Mrs. Pollard along with a number of written submissions including one from Dr. Greg Sternberg.
Stewards charged the Trainer under GAR 83 (2) (a) (d) which states;
(2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound
(a) nominated to compete in an Event
(d) shall present the greyhound free of any drug
Mrs. Pollard pleaded not guilty.
Mrs. Pollard was found guilty as charged.
Mrs. Pollard was Suspended for 3 months and fined $500
Stewards disqualified the greyhound “MADONNA PORTRAIT” under GAR 83 (4) from Race 2 (placed 1st) at the Mackay Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 27th of November 2008.
Prizemoney must be returned to Greyhounds Queensland.
Mrs. Pollard was read her rights of Appeal at the conclusion of the Inquiry.
Local Rule 26(QLD)= unless the Authority determines otherwise-
- a greyhound trained on or at premises at which a disqualified or suspended person resides shall not be eligible to compete in any event;
- a greyhound owned or trained by a disqualified or suspended person as at the date of the suspension or disqualification or at any time since the date of the offence resulting in the suspension or disqualification, shall not during the period of suspension or disqualification be owned or trained by the spouse or partner of the suspended or disqualified person or by any person who resides at the premises at which the suspended or disqualified person resides.
