McLune CHIEF STEWARD INVESTIGATIONS
Stewards opened an inquiry in relation to an incident
following the last race in the kennel area of the Ipswich
Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 27 June 2006. The
incident involved licensees Mr. Bill Harris of New Farm
and Mr. Barry Hogan of Calvert.
Stewards accepted evidence from Mrs. C. Hogan, Mrs. P.
Healy, Mr. S. Livotto and Mr. S. McLeish along with submissions
from Mr. Harris and Mr. Hogan.
As a result, stewards charged Mr. Harris and Mr. Hogan
under GAR 125(1)(q) which states any person (including
an Official) who; commits or omits to do any act or engages
in conduct which is in any way detrimental or prejudicial
to the interest, welfare, image, or promotion of greyhound
racing.
Mr. Harris pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mr. Hogan pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mr. Harris and Mr. Hogan were found guilty as charged.
Mr. Harris and Mr. Hogan were fined $500 each and suspended
for a period of 6 months. The 6 months suspension was
totally suspended for Harris and Hogan to be of good behaviour
for that period of 6 months.
Mr. Harris and Mr. Hogan were read their rights of appeal
at the conclusion of the inquiry.
