Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 31st of December 2009 in relation to a posting on the Greyhound Data Website forum, dated the 17th December 2009.

The post related to comments levelled against the current Board of Directors of Greyhound Queensland and further against the late Chairman of Stewards Mr. Danny Ryan.

Stewards directed Licensee Mr. Jack Zappala of Bracken Ridge to appear.

Evidence was taken from Mr. Jack Zappala and Mr. Sam Zappala along with a number of written exhibits.

After considering all the evidence Stewards charged Licensee Mr. Jack Zappala under R 86 (q) which states;
A person (including an official) shall be guilty of an offence if the person-
(q) commits or omits to do any act or engages in conduct which is in any way detrimental or prejudicial to the interest, welfare, image, control or promotion of greyhound racing-

Mr. Zappala pleaded not guilty as charged.

Mr. Zappala was found guilty as charged.

Mr. Zappala was disqualified for a period of 12 months.

Mr. Zappala was advised of his obligations under Rule 99 “Effect of Disqualification”.

Mr. Zappala was read his rights of Appeal at the conclusion of the Inquiry.
