Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 25th of January 2010 in relation to the urine sample numbered 287065 taken from the greyhound “PURE SURF” which competed on the 19th of November 2009 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club in Race 5 (placed 1st) and subsequently returned positive to the prohibited substances Nandrolone, 19-noretiocholanolone, 19-norepiandrosterone.

Stewards directed Trainer Mr. Paul Cauchi of Tugan to appear.
Evidence was taken from Mr. Cauchi.

Stewards charged the Trainer under R 83 (2) (a) (d) which states;
(2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound
(a) nominated to compete in an Event
(d) shall present the greyhound free of any prohibited substance  
 
Mr. Cauchi pleaded guilty as charged.

Mr. Cauchi was suspended for 3 months and fined $2000.

Stewards disqualified the greyhound “PURE SURF” under R 83 (5)(a) from Race 5 (placed 1st, heat young guns) at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 19th of November 2009 and subsequently under R83 (5)(b) from Race 8 (placed 2nd, final young guns) at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 26th November 2009.

Prizemoney must be returned to Greyhounds Queensland.

Mr. Cauchi was read his rights of Appeal at the conclusion of the Inquiry.

Mr. Cauchi was advised of his obligations under Local Rule 26.
