Stewards opened an Inquiry in relation to an incident that took place in the kitchen area of the Greyhound Racing Authority office and again in the Stewards Room of the Albion Park Raceway prior to the first event on the night of the 16th of November 2006.

The incident resulted in Deputy Chairman of Stewards Mr.S.J.McGrath lodging an official complaint.

The incident resulted from the late scratching of the greyhound “MAJORITY RULES” trained by Mr. Ron Ball.

Stewards accepted evidence from Trainer Mr. R.Ball, Deputy Chairman of Stewards
Mr. S.J.McGrath, Steward Mrs. G.Thorsby along with written submissions from Steward Mr. C.Clifford and Veterinary Surgeon Dr. R.Giesel.

As a result Stewards charged Mr. Ball under GAR 125(1)(F)(i) which states: Any Person (including an Official) who; engages in, publishes or causes to be published, broadcasts or causes to be broadcasts, the use of any contemptuous, unseemly, improper, insulting, or offensive language, conduct or behavior in any manner or form towards, or in relation to: (i) a Steward.

Mr. Ball pleaded not guilty.

Mr. Ball was found guilty as charged.

Mr. Ball was Suspended for 12 months.

Mr. Ball was read his Rights of Appeal at the conclusion of the Inquiry.
