Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 27th of December 2007
in relation to the urine sample numbered 254594 taken
from the greyhound “MISS MANHATTAN” which
competed on the 1st of November 2007 at the Townsville
Greyhound Racing Club in Race 6 (placed 6th) and subsequently
returned positive to the drugs Theobromine and Paraxanathine.
Stewards directed Trainer Mr. Denis Godfrey of Tully
to appear.
Evidence was taken along with submissions; however the
Inquiry was adjourned at the request of Mr Godfrey and
resumed on the 25th of January 2008.
Stewards took further evidence from Trainer Mr Godfrey,
along with a number of written submissions requested from
the Racing Science Centre by Stewards.
Stewards charged Mr. Godfrey under GAR 122 which
states: The Owner, Trainer or person in charge of a greyhound
nominated to compete in an Event shall produce the greyhound
for the Event free of any drug.
Mr. Godfrey pleaded not guilty.
Mr. Godfrey was found guilty as charged.
Mr. Godfrey was Disqualified for 6 months and fined $1000.
Stewards disqualified the greyhound “MISS MANHATTAN”
under GAR 124 (1) from Race 6 (placed 6th) at the Townsville
Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 1st of November 2007.
Mr. Godfrey was read his rights of Appeal at the conclusion
of the Inquiry.
