Race 8 MAJOR NIGHTMARE Injured in running, near fore foot, 14 days
The greyhounds MY BOY CHUBBY and BLONDIE’S STORM performed satisfactory stewards trials and are now cleared to nominate all tracks.
TINY TALENT was best to begin. IS IT YOU and BAD BEAR both were slowly away. In the back straight BOGIE DALE and SMART ASSIGNMENT raced tightly and bumped at the rear of the field on several occasions.
NIKKI BOND began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. On leaving the straight NASHO GEOFF shifted off the heels of MISS KIMBERLEY. As a result STUBBORN BABE who was following was severely hampered and lost ground in this incident. Entering the back straight FLINSTONE checked off the heels of NASHO GEOFF and lost ground. FLINSTONE was tightened for room inside NASHO GEOFF passing the 630m boxes. Entering the home straight NIKKO BOND shifted ground to his outside and as a result collided with FLINSTONE forcing that greyhound to lose ground.
Race 3
Shortly after the start DARE YOU TOO shifted abruptly to its inside. MARTINI DELIGHT began slowly. BULLY BROWN raced deeply on the track entering the back straight. Approaching the home turn MAYWYN’S BELLE appeared to be held up for a run inside LADY CHILL.
Race 4
BUCKS A MILLION and ONE IN TEN both dwelt at the start and lost ground. Entering the back straight GERBER’S GIRL checked off the heels of CHASE THE BUN and lost some ground.
Race 5
Shortly after the start SENOR ZORRO was tightened for room between VACANT LOT and BUSH WALKER. As a result SENOR ZORRO lost some ground at this point. Shortly after this incident BUSH WALKER shifted in colliding with FELICITY TRICK. JIMMY ARE and GO BLUE BOY bumped on entering the back straight. In the back straight BUSH WALKER which was racing inside VACANT LOT was severely checked when VACANT LOT shifted back to the rails. BUSH WALKER lost considerable ground in this incident. Entering the home straight CAT SCRATCH FEVA and VACANT LOT collided.
Race 6
FIRST GANGSTA began slowly. VIS was pushed wide entering the home straight on the 1st occasion. SIENNA BREEZE shifted off the rails passing the winning post and entering the bend after the winning post and as a result collided with LADY TEXAN. LADY TEXAN lost ground in this incident. LADY TEXAN and VIS raced tightly rounding the home turn on the final occasion.
The greyhound SIENNA BREEZE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards interviewed Mr Tom Tzouvelis the trainer of the greyhound Sienna Breeze in relation to the performance of the greyhound tonight. Stewards were concerned with the greyhounds pursuit of the lure through the catching pen area on the first occasion. However after taking into account the interference the greyhound suffered at this period of the race it was the view of Stewards that the greyhound be accorded the benefit of any doubt in relation to its performance this evening.
Race 7
DASHING DEBONAIR began slowly. JORDO’S PUSHBIKE shifted off the rail entering the straight on the 1st occasion and as a result HARA’S DESIGN and DESSA WARRIOR were both severely hampered. JORDO’S PUSHBIKE again lost ground when it shifted off the rails passing the winning post on the 1st occasion. DESSA WARRIOR and HARA’S DESIGN collided in the back straight with DESSA WARRIOR again losing some ground. Stewards interviewed trainer Tony Zammit the trainer of the greyhound JORDO’S PUSHBIKE in relation to the performance of the greyhound this evening. Stewards questioned Mr. Zammit as to his assessment of the run. Mr. Zammit said he felt the greyhound was better suited drawn out in a wider box than it obviously had tonight. A review of the greyhound’s form suggested that this may well be the case and Mr. Zammit’s explanations were noted.Stewards also bore in mind that the greyhound did strike interference on a couple of occasions.
Race 8
MAJOR NIGHTMARE was slowly away, whilst ROMAN ASSASSIN dwelt and lost considerable ground at the start. In the run to the winning post on the 1st occasion MISS KAWATI was tightened for room between WHATZ MATTER YOU and HATINATOR. MAJOR NIGHTMARE checked off the heels of MISS KAWATI entering the back straight and lost considerable ground. ROMAN ASSASSIN which was following was also hampered in this incident.
The greyhound MAJOR NIGHTMARE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near fore foot and was stood down for a period of 14 days.
Race 9
Shortly after the start DARK WHISPER shifted out and as a result collided with BOGIE KING who was severely hampered. DARK WHISPER continued to shift off the track until entering the back straight. PEDRO’S MISTRESS was tightened for room in the back straight as BOGIE KING moved back towards the rails. PEDRO’S MISTRESS lost considerable ground in this incident.
Race 10
GAMBLE ON began slowly. In a general tightening shortly after the start EXPLOSIVE DREAMS, RAGING RANGA, CHEATING CHARLIE and CASUAL BABE all were tightened for room. CAUSAL BABE shifted widely on the track in the back straight and continued to race widely. In the back straight and passing the 600m boxes CHEATING CHARLIE and MAYWYN EASY bumped on several occasions and continued to race tightly until entering the home straight.
